URQUHART CUP POLO – HEXHAM POLO CLUB
Location: Eynesbury Homestead
Sunday January 24, 2016
What better why to finish your weekend then a spot of polo… aka The Game of Kings. I was lucky enough to be invited by Johnny from Sheep Shearer (you will hear more about him in an upcoming interview). We were guests of the Hexham Polo Club (HPC).
Here is alittle history lesson for you…
HPC was formerly known as the Caramut Polo Club.
Founded in Victoria’s Western District in 1884.
Credited as being the oldest club in Australia that still exists today.
I hear you say.. What is the Urquhart Cup?
It’s a tournament that began in 1950. Three trophies being played for: The Urquhart Cup (a-grade); the Claude Palmer Cup (b-grade) and the Merang Cup (c-grade).
It was a fun filled day of polo, amazing food from Farmer’s Daughter, Tasty wine from Reschke Wines Coonawarra & clothing from Sheep Shearer . I haven’t been to the polo in a while and it was great to actually sit and mingle with lovers of the sport. Thank you to Johnny and Hexham Polo Club for having me on the day.
Hexham Polo Club have a variety of memberships available – from Youth playing to Full playing and even Social Memberships. I highly recommend you pop on the maroon & gold and become a member.
