Starting 30 years ago in his family garage, the Dom Bagnato brand is now sold through in-store boutiques within Myer stores nationally as well as boutiques across Australia and New Zealand.

Dom Bagnato will be gracing the runway at this year’s Fashion+Aid on Sept 10th. I was lucky enough to sit down with the man himself.
Be inspired by the man of style…

Dom Bagnato is about to hit the Fashion+Aid Runway in Sept. Can you tell us a bit about the collection and what we can expect?

What inspired you when you were designing your latest collection?

_{WHAT INSPIRED ME WAS MY SOUTHERN ITALIAN HERITAGE AND HOW POVERTY AND CHALLENGES OF NOT HAVING THE PERFECT OPTIONS DID NOT STOP THEM FROM MAKING A BEAUTIFUL IMPRESSION.}

What is your favourite piece this season?

_{MY FAVOURITE PIECE THIS SEASON WOULD HAVE TO BE THE SLATE BLUE WITH TERRACOTTA CHECK LINEN JACKET.} 

A few years back I had the pleasure of celebrating your 30yrs in the biz. Retail and the fashion industry has changed so much over the years. What advice would you give to anyone keen to start their own label?

_{TO TEST YOUR PASSION AND COMMITMENT AND DECIDE ON WHAT YOUR HAPPY TO SACRIFICE TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS. IF YOUR ABLE TO GET CLEAR AND EXCEPT THESE STEPS THEN GIVING UP WHEN THINGS GET TOUGH WONT BE AN OPTION.} 

Who has been your biggest role model / mentor?

_{MY BIGGEST MENTORS HAVE BEEN MY FAMILY. MY MOTHER, MY WIFE AND MY 2 CHILDREN.}

When you are having some “me” time… where would we most likely find you and what would you be doing?

_{WHEM IM HAVING ME TIME I WILL BE ON A TRIP WHERE I TAKE TIME OUT TO ENJOY BEAUTIFUL CITIES AND LOCATION. AT HOME, IT WOULD BE PLAYING THE PHOTOGRAPHER, AS I LOVE TAKING PHOTOS AND BUILDING ALBUMS.}  

Travelling is a bit part of your life. Where is your favourite place to travel and explore?

_{MY FAVOURITE PLACE TO EXPLORE IS ‘EVERY WHERE’, AS I ADORE TRAVEL, HOWEVER I NEVER GET TIRED OF EXPLORING ANYWHERE IN EUROPE.}
