What made you want to create Jar Body?

I have always been a label reader, whether it was food or beauty. I like to know what I am putting on my skin as I have THE most fussiest skin ever! My Mum has a naturopathy background and I grew up learning about herbs, essential oils and natural remedies. Jar began very simply and with the ethic to bring a fun and more natural approach to beauty in the bathroom, I like to think our products brighten our customers day, leave them pampered and also encourage them to make their own ME time in this very busy life. Our products contain NO nasties and NO preservatives!

 

How long has Jar body been available?

Jar began in October 2013, we have grown and evolved so much since then!

 

What are all the different product available at Jar Body?

Jar started with a moisturising body scrub line, we are known very well for that, however we create facial clay masque blends, aloe vera soaps, bath fizz, salt soaks and also milk bathe!

 

Are you only online or can people buy in stores?

We have a very busy online store with our whole range available, we send hundreds of Jars out a week to new and also very loyal Jar lovers. We are also stocked in over 40 outlets Australia wide which you can see listed online.

 

How do you come up with so many amazing scents? what inspires you?

Jar is a LOT about me and what I love in scents, very fresh, tropical and fruity inspired scents! I am a Mornington girl and am never far from water, I crave the ocean and tropical destinations. You can scrub with our blends and your skin will be left with a gentle lingering scent, the ideal start to your busy day! The products are named after tropical and holiday spots to tantalise the senses..

 

What is your favourite product and why?

For face, I LOVE my INCA clay masque kit, this product is made for sensitive skin and I use it once a fortnight to draw out impurities, tighten my pores and leaves a glowing healthy complexion, I get a lot of compliments on my 36 year old skin and this product is why. I scrub my body twice a week love the CALI scrub for a zingy citrus morning pick me up and a BONDI (vanilla & coconut) scrub before bed!

 

There’s so much competition out there, how do you deal with the pressures and making sure your getting the brand out there? 

I have really let our product and brand sell itself. We have not paid for social influencers to endorse our brand, we have organically grown and I find that so satisfying to know that real Jar lovers return over and over again!

 

On a personal note, how do you have time to juggle being an amazing mum, a talented photographer and the founder of such a fast growing business that is Jar body?

Wow! Juggle is the perfect word! Having been a photographer 18 years full time before branching out with Jar, I am a very visual, organised and thought filled person, I make a lot of check lists, one for each day. My children and family come first, however in business you must embrace your brand as another child. So with 4 beautiful children and the most supportive husband ever, we work as a great team and make sure to set aside days that are work only and those that are family only. It’s the only way!

 

What is your advise to aspiring entrepreneurs?

There are a million similar products out there. My advice is for you to find something UNIQUE, something NEW, something that WORKS and most of all believe in your product!

 

Jar Body now has over 42K following on instagram alone, has social media been a big help in reacting a wider community and increase sales? 

Social Media is an amazing way to spread the word, it also saves me so much time. I can share via instagram – linked to other platforms and share an image easily throughout the day with one click reaching out to many avid followers!

 

Since I’ve known Jar Body I’ve only seen it grow in strength. Where would you love to see Jar Body in the future? 

Thank you x My advice is for people to try the brand for themselves, Jar is a product you must ‘get on your skin’ to relish in the results. We have new and exciting products soon to be released that are going to get people very excited, I am blown away by the Love, feedback and support in this industry so I am overjoyed to see Jar grow and thrive into the future!!
