5 Minutes with Luke Jacobz – interview

Luke.
He’s the face we know and love on our televisions. But lets get to know him alittle more.

In 2008, he and dance partner Luda Kroitor took home the winner’s trophy on DANCING WITH THE STARS.

Giving up a plumbing apprenticeship at 17 years old paid off for Jacobz, after appearing in several commercials and guest roles he landed his first full time acting gig in HEARTBREAK HIGH. Having the gift of the gab scored him a job as a promotional representative for the Pepsi Taste Challenge campaign in the summer of 1999-2000 and led him to the hosting role on Channel Seven’s children show THE BIG ARVO and hosted POSTERS LIVE.

In 2005 he returned to acting, joining the cast of MCLEOD’S DAUGHTERS, before taking up his role on HOME AND AWAY. A role for which Jacobz received a Most Popular Actor Logie nomination.

As host of THE X FACTOR, Luke joins judges Guy Sebastian, Dannii Minogue, Chris Isaak and James Blunt on the search to find Australia’s next singing sensation.

You have had a successful career in both acting and hosting. What is your Highlight of your career that you are most proud of?
Probably my proudest Moment was being nominated for a Logie award in 2009. I was shocked to be honest and was really happy to be part of it, and when i won dancing with the Stars. That was a pretty proud moment

Favourite place you have travelled to?
I LOVE NYC, if I could spend 2months there a year I would be very happy with my life

Favourite Comfort Food?
I love my seafood. Prawns, crab and salmon sashimi puts me in the best mood.

Do you have any secret Hobbies?
I wouldn’t say a hobby but I love cooking, I find it so relaxing and satisfying

Who has been your biggest role model/ mentor?
I think Hugh Jackman is an absolute legend. He can act sing dance and he is commonly known as being really down to earth and respected

Your a stylish Man on and off TV…Do you have a favourite piece in your closet that you love to wear? If so, what is it and why do you love it so much?
I love my jackets. I have a Zara Jacket at the moment that I wear constantly. I like dark greys and blacks with a bit of leather too.

Do you have a Signature scent? If so, what is it?
I used to wear David Beckham all the time but recently I’ve switched to Givenchy Men Only

The X Factor has some amazing talent… Are you a shower singer? If so, what is your it song to sing?
I def love to sing in the shower and I love belting out some Paulo Nutini

When you are having some “me” time… where would we most likely find you and what would you be doing?
Me time would be at the park with my dog Ollie. He is my world. Always keeps me smiling and we never argue!

If you could give your 18yr old self advise about the future, what would you say?
“Have confidence in what you do. ” it’s hard to know if I would have worked in the industry for so long so I wish I could tell myself to accept what I do and what I’ll always do

For those keen and thinking to get into Acting and Presenting/Hosting, what would be your advise?
Read your cereal cartons out loud. Be confident in speaking in front of people and always keep trying

Who would you love to work with in the future and why?
Hugh of course- I want to be Wolverines Son! James Cameron makes amazing films to so that would be great

What did you want to be when you were a kid?
I wanted to be my dad. He was my hero, so I guess a plumber and a fathers

What’s next for Luke Jacobz?
I’m back over to LA in November and I’ll take it from there. It’s always been a dream to work there so I’ll give it a go.
